Anxiety Management (Group Therapy)
Anxiety Management Group / Pre-individual Therapy Group (8-week course)
Anxiety Management Group sessions are designed to allow individuals to understand their sources of anxiety, how these are being maintained and to develop healthy strategies to manage distress. Prior to accessing this course, an individual assessment is undertaken to develop a provisional formulation of current difficulties, known as a mode map. This mode map allows each individual to personalise group material and support strategies for their individual needs. Anxiety management strategies acquired during this 8 week course include Mindfulness, Visualisation, Imagery, Dysfunctional Thought Challenging, Grounding Techniques and Energy Psychology-Based Techniques.
This treatment modality can be used in two ways. Either as a stand-alone treatment for anxiety or as a form of skill development and support while awaiting individual psychotherapy. Attendees often find that attending such a course provides the basic skills required to accelerate progress in later individual psychotherapy sessions.
